Lately

So. I’m sorry for the lack of posts. I honestly have no real excuse - I’ve just been way too busy. In between studying again, working full time, photographing in my spare time & Wedding planning, the little time I do have to myself I’d rather keep to myself - and spend it with my boys (when boy number 1 is home of course), my friends & my family. Also - I want to relax. I like to relax you guys.

Fear not, this week I’m going to try and get the ball rolling again and get a bit more motivated with my posting.

I do love you, you know, little blog.

Instagram says:

That this is what I’ve been doing lately. We had a long weekend just gone, and I was stuck home with a sore eye but still managed to keep myself pretty busy. Oh, and also?

A belated Happy Easter from the bulldog :)

Little things.

  • Random, small acts of kindness. When Jess picked Rick up from my work yesterday to take him to the airport, she bought me a can of diet coke that I didn’t ask for. I wanted a diet coke so badly but couldn’t leave the office. That can made my entire afternoon.
  • A smile from my baby nephew, just for me. I don’t understand what a mothers love for her child is like. But I know what it feels like as an Aunty whenever this innocent baby, that can’t express his feelings the way an adult can, holds onto my finger with all his might and gives me the biggest smile he can muster, to show me he loves me. I love being an Aunty.
  • Simple, and personal, compliments. Having a negative opinion on a trait in your personality, only to be told it’s something someone else admires. Brig has a way of saying the right thing at exactly the right time, generally when I least think I need to hear it.
  • The satisfying feeling of putting most of my pay into Wedding savings. I’m broke until we get paid again, but it feels so worth it already. I can’t believe I’m about to say this… but, saving for our special day, totally trumps wasting my money on clothes. I also feel completely 100% grateful to be marrying Rick. Even when Wedding Planning isn’t going the way we want, as soon as I look past that one annoyance, and look at something else we need to do for the Wedding, I remember how happy, and inlove, and excited I am. I get to marry Rick? I’m going to be a wife?!

I was feeling pretty flat today. But reminding myself of these little things, that don’t come from a fancy shop or cost a billion bucks, that make me so happy, are a realisation of how lucky I truly am.

Weekend by Instagram

So. The weekend was perfect. Not only was Friday my RDO, but I woke up to my beautiful fiance. Hoorah! I picked him up Thursday night and it’s so flippin fantastic having him home. He totally made us eggs on toasts for breakfast, a healthy (minus the energy drink) start to the day before our Celebrant came over to go through some Wedding paper work with us.

Then we took a bike ride down to the beach front to visit Rick’s Mama, sister & the kiddos.

Check out the beard! He is growing it, we both want to see what he looks like with a proper beard. I am so excited by it, and I kind of love Rilla with a beard.

After the beach - I came home to a parcel patiently waiting for me. Filled with Topshop goodies my Pa bought me.

That night, Jess & Belle picked us up for dinner at Outback Jacks before we went to the movies. The garlic bread here is amazing. So is the steak. I went with the chicken though, which was also amazing. I talk about food a lot right?

Mmmhmm. THE HUNGER GAMES. A group of us went to Gold Class to watch it. I don’t think anyone would understand if they went to see the movie without having read the books, but, I also think it’s their own fault. You always read the book before seeing the movie. I, of course, have read the books, and loved them, LOVED THEM SICK, so naturally I liked the movie. I think they did a good job too, but we did have a few too many drinks (benefits of Gold Class you see) so the boy and I want to go and see it again before he goes back to work.

Raquel went to Bali recently for a holiday - and bought us back some treats. Well, she bought Nicole and I some treats, and Rick stole one of them. Before the movie we each were given a bracelet, Nikki too - and we’ve made a bet between the three of us whoever wears theirs the longest, wins. $50 EACH is riding on this bet too, you guys. I must win.

I had a very early start on Saturday, and was on the Freeway by 8.30am so my Mama and I could make it to a Wedding dress appointment on time. It went perfectly, and I am very excited and happy with my dress progress :)

Then we went Antique-n afterwards.

And then we had some lunch.

And then my Mum took me to an amazing furniture and decor store. I fell completely in love with every item they had stocked. Especially that giant mirror with the gorgeous black frame you can see in the back there. Only 6k. And you know what? I’d pay it. If I had 6k, I would buy that beautiful mirror and I would love it forever.

I came home from the City with fresh flowers, and a handful of plants - new succulents and catcus! I can’t kill these kinds of plants - and that’s why I am sticking to them and only them.

Sunday Morning was spent actually repotting them, and I love the end results. So pretty and easy to take care of!

Then? On Sunday night? The greatest thing in the world happened. Brig had come over earlier during the day, and we got to talking about food. Surprise surprise… but. We both wanted the same thing for dinner. I couldn’t make them as good as Brig, and Brig couldn’t make them at all at her house due to lack of a working oven (rentals!). 30mins later, Wisang was over on his laptop, Rick was playing on his computer, Brig and I had returned from IGA and was in the process of making this incredible dinner for us all. And by ‘Brig and I’, of course I mean Brig. She makes the best gravy, ever. I ate far too much, and finished it off with an unncessary serving of dessert. BEST.

Earlier during the week, my Dad gave me a gift card for Myers, that he’d been given from work etc etc etc… my Sunday night was spent trying to pick what to use it for. It’s basically free money you guys. Do I buy the mixer I’ve been wanting? (Well, really the one I would have bought isn’t what I want. I WANT THE KITCHEN AID. That baby is $750. I pray someone will buy it for me/us as a Wedding present. I pray.) Do I buy the fancy smancy chopping board Rick wants? A fancy smancy dinner set? No. No. I buy. A clothes steamer. Heck. Yes. Free money should be used on items that are completely useful, but generally something you wouldn’t/couldn’t buy. A mixer will come. A chopping board will come. Fancy dinner sets a plenty will come. AND NOW, SO WILL A STEAMER!

There’s my weekend, summed up by instagram photos. How was your weekend? :)

(I plan on buying the chopping board for the boy as an Easter Present. We both seem to love new kitchen items at the moment, so it works for a present for us both, from us both. We are going to rock at being married.)

Flash Back Friday

Stupid o’clock in the Morning, sometime during Winter last year, Brig & Scott came back to our house. The boys all playing PS3 together. This photo makes me smile :)

A random Friday night at my house, again, sometime last year, having group photos together, even Rigby. I love my friends.

A photo of my boy, sleeping next to me on the couch. Again this photo is from last year sometime, but I love it. Besides all the stripes, this is one of my favourite photos of Rick. I think he is so. gorgeous. when he sleeps. Look at those perfect eyelashes?

I love looking at old photos that bring on good memories.
